Jobs interviews make us nervous at the best of times, but could you perform whilst hurtling around a racetrack at 110mph? That’s what happened to four spooked candidates who were tested to their limits in a recent job interview – when they had to answer questions whilst a professional driver raced them around a track!
UK top ten car dealer, Big Motoring World, teamed up with well-known YouTube personality Sid North, who was trying to beat his best lap time while the job-hunters each attempted to secure a new role while being thrown around in the back of the car.
The interviews took place at Cadwell Park in Lincolnshire, which is also known as a ‘mini-Nürburgring’ due to its many tight turns and hairy stretches. The prospective candidates swapped the usual stuffy interview location of the boardroom for the back of a BMW M5 Competition – with hilarious results.
The interviewees were filmed with a series of cameras, including GoPros that were set up inside the car to capture all their emotions – from excitement to utter dread.
While one of the candidates impressed more than the rest, the wild ride was worth it for the full group, as they performed so impressively that Big Motoring World made the decision to hire all of them for their chosen roles, rather than just one of them.
To prevent injuries, safety marshals were on site at all times to ensure effective measures were in place and that all the candidates wore a protective helmet while inside the car.
The candidates all showed their mettle in tough conditions, but not without the odd use of choice language or the occasional terrified shriek! See footage of the interviews here
Discussing the interviews, Ben Goodwin, Sales Director at Big Motoring World added: “One of the most important attributes of an ideal candidate is the ability to perform under pressure. We wanted to give our candidates a challenge that blended both fun and pressure and are delighted with how it turned out.
“Everyone involved had a chance to prove themselves in a challenging environment, something that we hope will help them in their new roles – we’re pleased to say that they all passed with flying colours! “Also, I want to say a big thank you to Sid North for being a good sport and taking time out of his busy schedule to come and help out.”
