Tell me about your role – what does a typical day look like for you?
I’m up at around 6.30am and my first job is to review the previous day’s numbers over breakfast. I fit in a gym session and get to the office for around 8.30am where I will go through emails and have the day’s briefing with my PA and Project Manager. I’ve usually got a range of meetings scheduled so other than a quick lunch at around 12.30pm my day is pretty structured. One of the most important parts of my day is catching up with the various department heads to get an overview of what’s happening in their respective teams. I will normally leave the office around 5pm and continue catching up on the day’s events from home, finishing at around 7.30pm.
How many employees do you have?
We currently employ around 112 people in our head office in Hemel Hempstead. In addition to this we have 52 regional territories around the UK.
What do you look for when you are recruiting?
We look for three key things when we recruit – attitude, intelligence and motivation. We believe that with those three in check, we can teach or train them everything else that they need.
What attributes are necessary in your business?
Hunger and a desire to learn are vital. We encourage our staff to be proactive in their approach, if they spot something that can be improved they are encouraged to enact change. The business is heavily driven by the economy and what’s happening in the world, so we do encourage staff to have a handle on current affairs.
